Congestion of 71 ships in the Gulf, to be escorted by icebreakers

As of 8:00am (MT) there are 71 cargo ships awaiting icebreaker assistance in the eastern Gulf of Finland, the Port Authority of Big Port St. Petersburg said.

The St. Pb PA reports of total 97 vessels currently located in the water area, 12 of them - in motion. Over the past day 3 vessels are reported westbound from the Gulf area, 10 called and 15 departed the port of St. Petersburg.
 
At least 7 vessels at the regional ports are subject to ice restrictions, 3 of them in St. Petersburg, 2 - in Viborg, 1 - in Vysotsk and 1 – in Ust-Luga.
