According to expert estimates, the volume of cargo handling at Russian seaports in 2011 may amount to 560 million tons a year, 6.5% more than in 2010, PortNews reported with reference to the information of a meeting of the Council of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport.
Throughput of Russian seaports in 2010 increased by 6 percent year-over-year to 526.03 million tons. Last year, there were 178,700 ship calls reported (arrivals / departures) versus 164,200 calls in 2008 and 160,800 in 2009.
