Keppel Shipyard has clinched contracts worth S$170m ($133.7m) for two fast-track projects for two separate companies, Seatrade-asia reports. The subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine will complete a pipe laying vessel for Saipem S.p.A and convert a floating, storage and offloading (FSO) vessel for Bumi Armada. The Saipem project involves detailed engineering, constructing marine systems and outfittings, installing and integrating marine and pipe laying equipment as well as commissioning the marine systems and sea trials. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2012. The pipe laying vessel, Castorone, is scheduled to arrive in Keppel Shipyard towards the end of the first quarter this year. The Bumi Armada project to convert a tanker into a FSO vessel will start in the first quarter of this year. Work includes refurbishment and life extension works, fabrication and installation of the cargo offloading balcony and helideck, installation and integration of a 12-point spread mooring system, and the upgrading of accommodation facilities. The project is expected to be completed in the second-half of this year.
