Igor Sechin: Ust-Luga export oil terminal is to be launched in December 2011

The Marine export oil terminal at the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region), the terminus of the BPS2 Phase 2 (the Baltic Pipeline System) should be launched in December this year, the PortNews correspondent quoted Russian Vice-Premier Igor Seching as saying. The official was speaking today at a workshop at the port of Ust-Luga.

"I expect that Transneft will open its terminal in December 2011," Mr. Sechin said.

Transneft JSC is implementing a project for building the second phase of the Baltic Pipeline System stretching from Unecha to the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region with a spur line connected to Kirishi refinery. The construction of the pipeline began in June 2009. The project includes the construction of the 1,170-km pipeline (998 km, project’s Phase 1), 6 pumping stations (PS), reconstruction of the existing oil pumping stations Unecha and Andreapol. The BPS’s Phase 1 capacity will be 30 million tons, of Phase 2 up to 50 million tons of crude oil.
