Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC has allocated RUR 1.6 mln for the development of a special-purpose program aimed at cleaning of the port’s harbor waters. According to the company’s press center the program developer is the Sea Protection Institute of Maritime State University named after adm. G.I. Nevelsky.
The project was initiated by a Coordination Council of Vladivostok Transport Hub (Commercial Port of Vladivostok is one of its members). Primorje Administration supported the initiative and a working group was set up for the project implementation. Thedevelopmentof the program known as ‘Clean Port’ is to be completed in December. Then itis to beconsidered by the Legislative Assembly of Primorje. The problem of the sanitary situation in the port’s harbor waters can be solved only through public-private partnership.
Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC owns and operates the property complex of the port of Vladivostok, one of Russia’s largest ports in the Far East. In 2007, the company’s throughput totaled 4.855.8 million tonnes (+20%, year-on-year). Commercial Port of Vladivostok operates 17 berths including container, passenger, motor car specialized berths.
