New appointment at the Ministry of Transport

Konstantin Palnikov was appointed Director of the Department of State Policy on Maritime and River Transport of the Russian Transport Ministry. The corresponding order was signed by Transport Minister Igor Levitin. Earlier, Mr. Palnikov was Managing Director of North-West Shipping Company (NWSC).

The former Director of the Department Alexey Klyavin, who had held the office since 2005, stepped down in January 2011. Later, was elected the president of Association of Shipping Companies.

Konstantin Palnikov was born in 1966 in the Russian Permsky region. In 1988 he graduated from the Adm. Makarov Higher Marine Engineering School in Leningrad.

In 1988-1990 Mr. Palnikov worked as a marine engineer at Latvian Shipping Company. Later, he continued his career at AcomaritUK Bergesen SA, Stolt - Nielsen Transportation Group BV and Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group BV.

In May 2007, Mr. Palnikov was appointed Deputy General Director and later General Director of Volga-Neva JSC, an affiliate of North-Western Shipping Company. From July 2009 to March 2011 - Managing Director of North-Western Shipping Company.
