A U.S. shipping line says problems with documentation for a cargo of ammunition have been resolved, allowing a ship that also was carrying American food aid to continue its trip after a more than two-week delay in Angola.
Maersk spokeswoman Celine Gordon says the documentation was sorted out.
"Maersk Constellation and its crew have left the port ... and are proceeding on its voyage," the company said Thursday. "All the cargoes are onboard and will be delivered as originally planned."
In addition to corn, beans and other food aid intended for Angola, Rwanda, Malawi and Mozambique, the ship was carrying ammunition purchased by the government of Kenya. According to Maersk, questions about the ammunition had led to the ship and its crew being detained since Feb. 28.
