Russian shipping company Palmali opened the navigation of 2011 on inland waterways (IW). On March 28th, Palmali’s first five ATBs departed from Rostov-on-Don in the direction Kochetovsky lock and then to the village of Tatyanka (Volgogograd). By early April, all of the company’s 60 cargo ships (nearly 400,000DWT) are expected to be operating.
During the period of 2010-2011, Palmali repaired 5 tugs and three oil barges at the ship-repair dock in Rostov-on-Don. In addition, 2 tankers were repaired at Moryak Shipyard (Rostov-on-Don), 3 tankers - at the Turkish shipyards.
In the upcoming navigation the fleet of Palmali will be engaged in transportation of petroleum products from the ports of Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan), Astrakhan, Oktyabrsk (Samara region), Nikolaevsk (Volgograd Region), Volgograd, Rostov and Taganrog to the ports of Kavkaz, Kerch and other ports of the Black Sea, Marmara Sea and Mediterranean Sea. Palmali plans to increase in comparison to 2010 petroleum products shipments to 130,000 tons a month.
