The Federation Council of Russia approved at a meeting on March 30, 2011 the Federal Law "On Amendments to the Inland Water Transport Code of the Russian Federation" (IWTC), the Russian parliament upper house press office said.
The Federal law is aimed at improving the mechanism of regulation of violations in the area of tariffs for services provided on inland waterways infrastructure and in the river ports. The document cites Article 6 and 58 of the Russian IWTC in accordance with the provisions of the Federal law "On natural monopolies".
In addition, an amendment was made in Article 41 of IWTC in part of settlement of issues in the sphere of public management of pilot service of vessels on inland waterways. Article 3 of IWTC is complemented with the notion of "infrastructure of inland waterways."
