Cargo turnover of Kaliningrad port totaled 12 779.4 thou tons in January-October 2006 (+5.4% against year-on-year result), Kaliningrad branch of Rosmorport FSUE told PortNews IAA.Export cargo amounted over the reported period to 11 470.5 thou tons (+6.1% against January-October 2005). Export of oil products totaled 8 103 thou tons (+13.3%), chemical cargo – 556.2 thou tons (-10.8%). Transshipment of ferrous metals amounted to 1 443.3 thou tons (-11.5%), metal scrap – 145.4 thou tons (-19.9%), ferrous alloys – 234.4 thou tons (-1.8%). In the 10-month period the port handled 592.3 thou tons of coal and coke (+19.3%), timber – 84.4 thou tons (-8.4%), grain – 59.8 thou tons (-41.9%). Container turnover of the port amounted in January-October to 56 496 TEUs, or 186.4 thou tons (-8.2% against year-on-year result). Export of ro-ro cargo totaled 28.9 thou tons (+14.3%).
Import totaled 1 251.1 thou tons (-2.4%) including container turnover - 57 875 TEUs, or 463.4 thou tons (+14.4% against year-on-year result). Import of ro-ro cargo totaled 22.4 thou tons (+41.6%). Transshipment of grain amounted to 254.9 thou tons (-8.2%), fish products – 111.7 thou tons (-22.3%), refrigerated cargo – 84.4 thou tons (-40.4%). Chemical cargo – 8.3 thou tons (+22.1%), other cargo – 306.0 thou tons (+5.2%).
In January-October the port handled 57.8 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (+60.2% against January-October 2005).
