Eng Aik Meng quits as head of APL
In the latest shake-up in senior management at Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) Eng Aik Meng has quit as head of container line APL. NOL said that Eng has resigned as president of APL and would be leaving the company from 1 September to take up a role outside of the transportation industry. He will be replaced Kenneth Glenn, currently APL’s president of North Asia Region.
"We understand Aik Meng's desire to begin a new phase in his career, and we thank him for his contributions to NOL," said NOL ceo Ron Widdows. "At the same time, we are excited to put APL under the direction of a veteran leader who has a very broad background in geographic and trade management and deep commercial skills developed over 32 years, the last 10 with NOL and APL.”
Eng is the latest senior executive to announced he is leaving NOL. Last Bob Sappio, APL’s head of the transpacific trade announced he was standing down, and Widdows will also be leaving NOL at end of the year.
