Keppel FELS gets $142m drilling tender contract
Keppel FELS has clinched a $142m contract from Seadrill to build a repeat semi-submersible drilling tender, the eighth drilling tender from the Singapore rig builder for the Oslo and New York-listed firm. The semi-submersible is scheduled for delivery in the second-quarter of 2013. “The seventh drilling tender was completed in March 2011, ahead of schedule and with a perfect safety record,” said Wong Kok Seng, managing director of Keppel FELS. The semi-submersible will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 1,524 metres. It will feature a crane capacity of 250 tonnes, four mud pumps and accommodation for 160 people.
