NCSP’s cargo volume is down 1.6% to over 64m tons
Cargo throughput of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) in January-May 2011 shrank by 1.6% compared to the five-month period of 2010, to 64 million 422.7 thousand tons, the Group’s press release said.
To ensure comparability with previous periods the cargo statistics have been adjusted for the volumes handled by Primorsk Trade Port Ltd., which was acquired by NCSP Group in January 2011, the company said.
Liquid bulk volume rose by 2.3% from a year earlier, to 54 million 748.9 thousand tons, while bulk cargo volume slumped by 39.3%, to 3 million 518.5 thousand tons, due to the grain exports ban. General cargo volume decreased by14.8% to 4 million 56 thousand tons. Container throughput of the Group in the reporting period soared 64.4% to 266,900 TEUs.
In May, the company’s output totaled 13 million 575.4 thousand tons, a 2.4-percent drop from a year earlier. Container traffic surged by 48.1% to 59,000 TEUs. This includes growth of the container handling at OJSC NLE, OJSC NCSP and PJSC BSC terminals by 76%, 43% and 22% respectively.
In May, the mentioned above grain exports ban contributed to a 37.7-percent drop (by 504,700 tons) in monthly bulk cargo volume, to 833.5 thousand tons.
The company reported strong results for the five-month period in the segment of iron ore and ore concentrate, fertilizer and raw sugar, which rose to 130,500 (+119.9%), 70,900 tons (+36.2%), 46,500 tons (+17,1%), accordingly.
Liquid cargo volumes in May 2011 totaled 11 387.4 thousand tons. Crude oil volumes in the reporting period totaled 9 944.9 thousand tons, which is 2.6% below the volumes of the same period last year. To the contrary, as stated above, handling of oil products increased by 36.6% versus April 2010.
In May, liquid bulk volume totaled 11,387.4 tons. Shipment of crude oil in the reporting period amounted to 9,944.9 thousand tons (-2,6%), while exports of oil products increased by 36.6% from April 2010, to 1 million 381.1 thousand tons.
Monthly volume of handled general cargo totaled 929.7 thousand tons, 7.8 tons (0.8%) below figures in May of last year.
