Throughput of Nakhodka port down 8.2% to 6,2 million tons
Freight traffic passing through the port of Nakhodka in the five-month period of 2011 decreased by 8.2% from January-May of 2010, to 6,24 million tons, the Nakhodka Port Authority said.
The five-month cargo volume includes 1,43 million tons of anthracite, a 28.9-percent gain from a year earlier, 1,35 million tons of ferrous metals (-36.3%), 220,300 tons of nonferrous metals (up 1.6 times from 2010’s figures), 2,76 million tons of oil products (+6.2%).
In May, cargo throughput of the port declined by 9% to 1,26 million tons.
Port of Nakhodka is located in the northern Bay of Nakhodka stretching on its both sides. Nakhodka is the year-round navigable port. It is linked via Trans-Siberian Railroad with the entire railroad network of Russia and Western Europe. In 2010, Port of Nakhodka handled 15,32 million tons, down 2.6% from a year earlier.
