Gas imports to China soar
China's gas imports jumped nearly a third in May from a year earlier to a record 2.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) with half delivered by pipeline from Central Asia, Seatrade Asia reported citing the country's National Development and Reform Commission.
The rest was in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Increased imports are helping China to achieve its goal of having gas contribute as much as 10% of its energy consumption mix by 2020.
