Maersk to upgrade S. America-Mideast service

Maersk Line on Thursday announced plans to upgrade its Samba service between the east coast of South America and the Middle East.
In a news release, the Danish carrier said it will phase in an additional vessel on the weekly service, effective in early November. It said the upgraded service will offer better schedule integrity and improved reliability on the route.
The service currently calls Itajai, Paranagua, Rio Grande and Santos, Brazil; Salalah, Oman; Jebel Ali, in the United Arab Emirates; Algeciras, Spain; Dakar, Senegal; and return to Vitoria, Brazil.
The first vessel to enter the new schedule will be the Maersk Jakarta. It is expected to arrive at the Suez Canal on Nov. 5.
