Throughput of Liepaja up 12.2% to 3.3 mln t in Jan-Sep 08

In January-September, 2008, the port of Liepaja handled 3.3 million tonnes of cargo (+12.2%, year-on-year), Baltic Course writes with reference to Liepaja SEZ administration. In September, the port’s busiest stevedoring company АО Liepajas osta LM handled 138,970 tonnes of cargo (+86.3%, year-on-year) while the port’s total throughput grew by 33.6%, year-on-year, to 391,170 tonnes. Loose dry cargo accounts for 41% of the port’s total throughput, general cargo - 36%, liquid bulk cargo - 22%.
