On the October 17 will take place a first call to the port of the vessel with Peugeots cars on board at the RTL car-terminal in Riga, Latvia. UECC vessel will deliver 798 Peugeot 308 cars to the termin-al.
This call to the port became possible due to the effective cooperation of 2 logistic providers: French GEFCO and Russian RTL.
RTL has opened terminal in Riga in 2007. The total area of the terminal is 70 000 sq. meters. All the cargo operations at the terminal are held by the RTL company.
The main advantages of the terminal in Riga are:
-customs Bonded Warehouse (internal EU legislation);
- good infrastructure;
- direct road and rail connections to Russia & CIS;
- en-route of major Baltic Sea shipping routes;
- accommodates short and deep sea vessels.
At this project terminal in Riga plays transit role. Almost a half of the delivery lot will be exported via the railroad. The rest via trucks.
