Kemerovo reports congestion of export coal

Kemerovo region authorities have called on the federal government to step in to resolve the critical situation with the export of coal, the Kemerovo regional administration reports quoting Governor Aman Tuleyev.

"The rail car fleet is poorly managed, we are facing shortage of rolling stock while there is an excess of gondola cars, the coal laden cars of coal companies are not dispatched, the gondolas turnover rates have slumped by 2-3 times," Aman Tuleyev was quoted as saying.

Since December 2010 the export coal backlog has totaled from 1 million to 2 million tons a month, in September 2011 - 2.8 million tons, or 19% of the monthly production volume.

Congestion of coal at warehouses of Kuzbass coal mining companies more than doubled and has reached 13 million tons. There is a risk of spontaneous combustion, the report said.
