Berlian Laju Tankers saw sharply improved net profit in the third quarter of 2011. The dual Jakarta and Singapore-listed company reported a net income of $119.6m in the third quarter compared to $10.1m in the second quarter. The company said the higher net income was “due to improved rates on most segments coupled with lower operating expenses and some non-cash items which compensated the significantly higher bunker costs in the third quarter of 2011.”
Revenues remained constant in the third quarter at $163m and BLT benefitted from the consistency of gas and chemical carrier rates.
