Wumen port's two 50,000-tonne berths to be operational

Two 50,000-tonne berths at Wumen port in Guangdong province will be put into service this month, reports Xinhua.
No 5 and No 6 berths at Shatian are Wumen are multi-functional deep-water berths. The US$177 million facilities cover 48.5 hectares with a quay length of 678 metres and a channel depth of 13 metres with an expected annual capacity of 30,000 TEU and 60,000 tonnes of break bulk.
By 2010, the port's new 13 berths, including No 5 and No 6, will be put into full operation. By then, the port's throughput will stand at 70 million tonnes with an increase of 50 million tonnes contributed by new berths.
