Port of Tacoma container volumes up two percent to 1.23 million TEUs in Jan-Oct

Port of Tacoma, in the US state of Washington, handled 1.23 million TEUs in the year through October, up two percent from a year earlier, Cargonews Asia reports. In the face of a weak economy, the port lifted 14 million tonnes of cargo, up by four percent from the corresponding period a year ago.
Full export box volumes through the harbour grew by 15 percent year-on-year in the 10-month period, on the back of rise in traffic of wood, waste products, paper and grain. Full import container volumes fell by two percent year-on-year, reflecting curtailed consumer spending.
