Port of Yuzhny has purchased a new shunting locomotive TEM18DM, the state-owned company said. The engine acquisition will help to handle growing cargo traffic passing through Yuzhny port terminals and save expenses. So far, the company had to lease locomotives from rolling stock owners.
The TEM 18DM shunting locomotive features high reliability and much lower operating costs by reducing the amount of repairs, maintenance and equipment failures. Soon, the equipment will be put into service, the Port Authority said.
