Among laden containers, inbound container traffic increased 4 percent year-over-year to 2.6 million TEUs, while outbound containers also rose by 3 percent to 2.8 million TEUs in the same period. On a quarter-to-quarter basis, inbound and outboard loaded container traffic decreased 7 percent and 2 percent, respectively.
In terms of total inbound loaded containers, imports decreased by 4 percent year-over-year to 800,000 TEUs, while inbound transshipped container traffic rose 8 percent to 1.8 million TEUs. Within the total of outbound loaded containers, exports decreased 8 percent year-over-year to 900,000 million TEUs, while outbound transshipped containers increased by 9 percent to 1.9 million TEUs in the same period.
Traffic of seaborne loaded containers in the third quarter increased 9 percent year-over-year, while riverborne containers decreased by 11 percent to 1.3 million TEUs in the same period.
