St. Petersburg bracing for storm, closes dam
The Leningrad region and St. Petersburg are preparing for a new storm and flooding that may hit the Russian Baltic region on December 27-28. According to St. Petersburg regional hydrometeorological center the water height once again may exceed 2 meters.
The center forecast southwest wind gusting up to15-20 m/s on the morning of December 27 and up to 24 m/s on December 28, with the strongest winds expected in the Gulf of Finland and Lake Ladoga.
The north Atlantic storm Quirin is shifting east, south-east to the territory of Scandinavia. Its center is located on the northern Gulf of Bothnia.
