Bumi Armada to buy tanker
The 107,160-tonne tanker will be acquired from Panama-registered Galaxy Naviera Maritime at 68 million ringgit ($21.4 million), the Malaysian offshore contractor said in an announcement on the Kuala Lumpur Stock exchange on Tuesday, Up Stream Online reports. The tanker was built in 1999 at Japan’s Koyo dockyard.
Upstream earlier reported Bumi Armada proposed to convert the Rainbow River into an FPSO to go on a multi-year charter with US independent Hess in the North Malay basin, off Peninsular Malaysia.
The tanker is also understood to have been offered as a candidate for the Belud FPSO contract also with Hess, off Sabah, Malaysia.
