Icebreakers form a 16-ship convoy in Azov Sea

Icebreakers of Rosmorport Kapitan Moshkin and Kapitan Krutov are organizing a convoy of 16 ships in the Sea of Azov, the Azov Sea Ice Ops HQ reported.


The convoy will be comprised of 8 vessels from the port of Taganrog, 4 - from the port of Rostov-on-Don, and 4 from the port of Yeysk.


As of 5 pm (Moscow Time) of March 5, there were 14 cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, including 9 ships to be escorted, 3 - en route and 2 stricken ships. At least 73 ships are in the Black Sea to pass through the Kerch Strait (22 of them have ice-class). Besides, 99 ships (22 ice-classed) in the Sea of Azov are awaiting icebreakers to depart from the regional ports.
