Krasnoye Sormovo secures an oil tanker order from Turkmenistan

Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard and Turkmendenizyollari (Turkmen Sea and River Lines) have signed a new contract for an oil tanker of mixed river-sea sailing of19900 project, the United Shipbuilding Corporation said.


Previously, the Nizhny Novgorod-based shipyard had won the tender for a newbuild contract.
The tanker will be classed to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping: KM * Icel [1] R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO LI VCS Oil Tanker (ESP).


The project was designed at Volga-Caspian Design Bureau. The vessel can be operated year-round on the inland waterways of Russia, as well as in non-freezing seas and open pack ice of the Arctic seas, with temperature ranging from + 30 Cº and – 20 Cº.


The vessel general characteristics:

Length overall - 141.4 m;
Beam – 16.84 m;
Depth - 6.82 m;
DWT in salt water - about 7100 tons with 4.6m draft, in fresh water - 4700 tons with 3.6m draft. Capacity of 12 cargo tanks and 2 slop tanks - 8256 cbm.
Rated power of two main engines - 1200 kW each.
Operational speed - 10.5 knots.


Earlier, the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan had placed order for a series of three tankers of 19900 project with the Russian shipyard. The first tanker Sumbar was delivered to the Customer in August 2009, the second vessel Khazar - in October 2009. In October, 2010, Turkmenistan took delivery of the Ceyhun, the third tanker of the project.


Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard based in Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1849. All vessels built at Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard meet the requirements of MARPOL conventions. The shipbuilding company is now part of United Shipbuilding Corporation.
