Cargo volumes handled by JSC Vostochny Port in January-February 2012 rose 12% year-over-year to 2.64 million tons, the port authorities said.
In February, the stevedore company moved 1.31 million tons of different cargoes, a 16.1% gain as compared with last year’s figures.
In January-February, shipments of different cargoes from Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) soared 43 percent year-on-year to 463,900 tons. In February, cargo throughput at the terminals of Vostochny Port surged by 43% to 222,200 tons.
The two-month coal exports from Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK-3) rose 7% to 2,180,000 tons. In February, shipments of coal from the facility was up 11% to 1,094,300 tons
Vostochny Port JSC is the major stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny, the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2011, the stevedore handled 16.5 million tons, a 12 percent gain year-on-year.
