Three icebreakers lead cargo ship convoys from VCSC to Astrakhan roadstead

Two icebreakers of Astrakhan branch of Rosmorport the Kapitan Bukayev and the Kapitan Chechkin started today escorting a caravan of six cargo ships from the 136th km of the Volga-Caspian Sea Channel (VCSC) to Astrakhan offshore anchorage, the Astrakhan Port Authority said. Then the icebreakers will lead another convoy of ships through the 150-km-long shipping canal.

Another icebreaker the Kapitan Metsayk is escorting a convoy of 10 ships from the 110th km of VCSC to Astrakhan.
