Volume of cargo transported by rivers in Ukraine grew 9.1% in January-September, y-o-y (+839.7 thou tons) to 10.067 million tons, RZD-Partner reports. According to the information provided by Ukrainian State Statistics Committee, in 2005 the dynamics was at the level of 8.1% (+691 thou tons). In September 2006, the growth was 23.7% against September 2005 (+306.2 thou tons) amounting to 1.598 million tons.
Growth of coastal trade made 15.9% over the reported period (+788.8 thou tons) amounting to 5.75 million tons. In September, volume of coastal trade totaled 1.105 million tons (+33.3%, or +276 thou tons against September 2005). Volume of foreign trade cargo grew by 1.1%, or by 46.9 thou tons, y-o-y, to 4.317 million tons. September transportation totaled 492.9 thou tons (+6.5%, or +30 thou tons against September 2005).
