Igor Sechin appointed as Rosneft President
The Board of Directors of Rosneft, at its meeting appointed Igor Sechin as President of the state-owned company. The relevant directive has been sent to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the company press service said.
Yesterday Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to appoint Igor Sechin as Chairman of the Board of Rosneft.
Igor Sechin has thanked Edward Hudaynatov for his work as president of the company and informed of his appointment as first Vice-President and Deputy Chairman of Rosneft.
Sechin highlighted the challenges facing the company and its strategic objectives for the modernization of Rosneft’s processing units, for fields development and boosting oil production capacity, measures to improve environmental and industrial security of its enterprises.
Moscow-headquartered Rosneft is an integrated oil company majority owned by the Russian Government. Rosneft ranks among the world’s top publicly traded oil and gas companies and is engaged in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, petroleum products and petrochemicals, and marketing of outputs. The Russian Government holds a 75.16-percent stake in Rosneft (through OJSC Rosneftegaz), 15% of shares are in free-float.
