Stevedore successfully handles heavy-lift at St. Petersburg port
Dockworkers of JSC Sea Port St. Petersburg" (MP SPb) in conjunction with specialists of Universal Forwarder Ltd. transshipped ‘boat-to-boat’ on May 27th a heavy-lift cargo, the stevedore company said.
The 949-mt equipment imported from Belgium was transshipped with the use of the floating crane “Bogatyr” from a feeder vessel onto river barges.
The project cargo will first be delivered from the port to Moscow and then to the Customer - TyazhPromArmatura based in Tula region. The equipment is intended for the modernization of the metal products manufacturer.
Sea Port St. Petersburg handles regularly oversized and heavy lift cargoes at the port utilizing the floating crane Bogatyr (lifting capacity - 300 tons), Leibherr cranes (capacity - 150 tons) and twin cranes (total capacity of up to 60 tons).
JSC Sea Port St. Petersburg (part of UCL Port, a stevedoring division of UCL Holding) is the largest operator, providing services for handling all types of dry cargo in Big Port St. Petersburg. The company operates modern specialized terminals for handling Ro-Ro cargo, imported vehicles and metals. In 2011, Sea Port St. Pb handled 7.4 million tons of cargo.
