Maersk to levy peak season surcharges
Maersk, the world's number one container liner, will levy peak season surcharges on services between India and North America, including Canada, from June 15, according to shipping industry sources, The Hindu Business Line reports.
The surcharges will be $360 per TEU, $450 per FEU, $500 per 40-foot high cube and $560 per 45-foot.
It might be noted that Singapore-based APL had earlier made a similar announcement in respect of the same trade lanes effective June 10.
APL proposes to impose surcharges of $480 per TEU, $600 per FEU, $675 per 40-foot high cube and $760 per 45-foot high cube container, the sources add.
