Pakistan and India agree to launch Karachi-Mumbai shipping lines
Pakistan has set up a joint chamber of commerce with India to promote and facilitate trade, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce Mian Abrar Ahmed announced Thursday, adding that the two countries had also agreed to launch shipping lines between the ports of Karachi and Mumbai.
Mian Abrar, who is currently leading an eight-member KCCI delegation in the United States, said that a similar joint chamber to facilitate trade had also been set up with Afghanistan.In the meeting with senior officials from the US State Department, Pakistani business leaders emphasised that Pakistan needed Iranian gas and that Washington should support the project.State Department officials, meanwhile, appreciated the steps taken by the Pakistani business community to improve relations with India through increased trade activity.
