Berkut platform installed at Vostochny Port anchorage
A huge gravity-based structure (GBS) of Berkut offshore drilling rig, which was towed from dry dock by four 17 MW tugs from Singapore and two tugs of Kozmino Oil Terminal, has successfully been deployed at Port Vostochny’s Anchorage No 9. The operation lasted for 10 hours and all vessels traffic at the harbor was halted for this time, Port Vostochny Harbormaster told PortNews.
"We’re now forming a caravan, and tomorrow the platform will head for Sakhalin," Harbormaster Andrew Gorodishtyan said. The drilling rig will cover some 750 nm at a speed of 2-3 knots escorted by four tugboats.
The drilling rig’s GBS was constructed at Vostochny port’s dry dock. The structure breadth - 100 m, length - 133 m, height - 55 m, weight - 150 tons.
