Baltiysky Zavod OJSC (Saint Petersburg) and experimental design bureau of machine building named after I.I. Afrikantov (Nizhnij Novgorod) has signed a contract for construction of steam generators for the first floating nuclear power station (NPS). According to the press center of Baltiysky Zavod the value of the contract totals about RUR 600 million.
Baltiysky Zavod is to manufacture eight steam generators for the first floating nuclear power station being built by Sevmash FSUE (Severodvinsk). The station will consist of two nuclear icebreaker-type units with total capacity of over 70 МWt. Each unit will be equipped with four steam generators manufactured at Baltiysky Zavod. The plant will start the work early in 2007. The delivery of the first generator is scheduled for the end of 2007 with consequent delivery of the rest seven units before October 2008. According to the press release, Baltiysky Zavod is the only Russian plant to manufacture steam generators for marine nuclear units with the support of licenses granted by GosAtomNadzor and GosTechNadzor of RF.
