The profit of АО Latvijas kugnieciba (Latvian Shipping Company) amounted to USD 24.8 million in 9 months of 2006. In January-September of 2005, the company earned USD 20.7 million, RZD-Partner reports.
In 9 months of 2006, the concern’s turnover reduced significantly – by USD 10.6 million – to USD 159.1 million. On the world market of tankers, which consists of about 950 small and average tankers with the carrying capacity of 27.5-52 thousand tons, АО Latvijas kugnieciba is the 6th-8th of the top 10 companies.
The Chairman of the Board of АО Latvijas kugnieciba Imant Vikmanis noted that the priority target of the enterprise is renewal of the fleet necessary for the company to keep its leadership on the world shipping market. It is planned that till the end of 2008, 14 new tankers will be added to the company’s fleet.
