In the 10-month period of 2006 port stations of North-Caucasus Railway handled 11.5 million tons of export and transit ferrous metals, which makes 109.5% of the last year result, NCRW’s PR service reports. Major growth was demonstrated by Novorossijsk station, which exported 7.8 million tons (or 110.1% against similar period of the previous year). Considerable growth was registered also at Tuapse station (114.5% against previous year) and at Yeisk (10-fold). In the 10-month period of 2006, 47 million tons of ferrous metals were handled at port stations of NCRW, including export, import and transit, which is similar to the level of the previous year. Transshipment of export cargo totaled 43.8 million tons, or 100.1% against 2005. Growth of export transshipment in the port of Novorossijsk was 1%, Yeisk – 54.5%, Caucasus - 25%, Temryuk – 11.3%, Rostov – 5.1-fold, Ust-Donetsk – 22.2%. Growth of export was demonstrated in the sector of ferrous metal (by 9.5%), timber (by 6.2%), grain (by 4.5%), coal (by 8.4%), other (by 3.4%).
