Iran plans enhancement of shipping industry

Iran's commerce minister notified that Iran planned the enhancement of its shipping industry and considered offering a special discount for exporters of goods, particularly those to far countries.

"Recently Iran has been planning on the development of its shipping transportation and offering a special discount to exporters of goods, particularly exports to far countries like in Africa," informed Iran's commerce minister, Masoud Mirkazemi.

"If the results of these plans turn out to be positive, then we will declare it officially," he added.

"Generally, a large extent of goods are transported through the sea all over the world, because sea transportation is the best and the most reasonably priced method of transportation in comparison to other methods," he went on to say while adding that over 50 percent of Iran's exports was done by shipping.

"In the export section, after shipping, we will consider transportation by railways, ground transportation and finally airways in our future programming," he concluded while stating the priorities of Iran's transportation plans.
