Abu Dhabi's BP Shipping, NGSCO enter into agreement

Following a successful 12-year relationship, BP Shipping and National Gas Shipping Company (NGSCO) have agreed to transition the full technical management of the NGSCO-Owned Al Khaznah Class LNG carriers.

In 1994, NGSCO partnered BP Shipping for the latter to provide the technical management of their four Al Khaznah class LNG carriers built in Japan. This partnership has allowed NGSCO to develop its own pool of marine officers on board and offshore to a skill level which permits successful management of the vessels by NGSCO.

During 2004-05 NGSCO took full management of the four Mubaraz class vessels from Golar Management UK Ltd and have been successfully operating them from their base office in Abu Dhabi.

The return of these vessels to their owner's management coincides with the arrival of BP Shipping's latest batch of new builds, four LPG and four LNG, securing continued employment for all staff into the future. NGSCO will assume full responsibility for management of the first two vessels during the planned transition period from November 2006 through to January 2007.
