Unified railway B/L is planned to be introduced for the clearance of cargo to be transported direct rail-ferry link via Russian and German ports according to Agreement on International Railway Transportation, RBC reports with reference to the press center of RF Transport Ministry.
Ferry line between the ports of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region), Baltjisk (Kalinigrad region) and Sassnitz (Germany) is to be introduced in July 2007. On December 5, 2006 it is planned to open direct rail-ferry link between Baltjisk, Sassnitz and Mukran. Ferry link with Germany is to result in considerable decrease of both cargo delivery time and transport component of the product’s final price, as well as in increase of transport flows between the two countries. According to the feasibility study of the project, cargo turnover of Ust-Luga – Baltjisk - German ports line will be up to 5.5 million tons per year. RUR 1.5 million is planned to be invested into construction of the second phase of motor-rail-ferry complex which to be finalized in 2007-2008.
