Aker Kv?rner to supply Varandey terminal with technology

The Norwegian engineering major Aker Kværner today announced that it has got several construction orders on port loading systems adjusted to Arctic climate. One of the company’s clients is the Russian Lukoil company, which is to use the system at its Varanday port in the Russian far north.

The loading systems are to be built at Aker Kværner’s plant in Arendal, Norway, Offshore.no reports.

The company Naryanmarneftegaz, a joint venture of Lukoil and ConocoPhillips, is developing the Varandey port in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug to become a major export terminal for oil from the Timano-Pechora province. The company has previously stated that it wants the port to get a capacity of 25 million tons of oil. At least 900 million USD is being invested in the port development.
