Port of Zhanjiang capacity to reach 150 million tonnes in 2011
The port of Zhanjiang is speeding up its pace of development into a major port in south China. By 2011, the port's capacity is expected to reach 150 million tonnes, Xinhua reported.
During the period from 2000 to 2005, Zhanjiang city invested CNY2.6 billion (US$380 million) on port infrastructures, building up 13 new berths, adding 31.8 million tonnes to its capacity. By the end of 2008, the port had completed building a 300,000-tonne sailing channel, a 300,000-tonne oil terminal and a 200,000-tonne ore terminal.
