First container train of project Trans-Sib in Seven Days leaves Nakhodka for Moscow

A high-speed container train has left Nakhodka-Vostochnaya station (Far East Railway, FERW) for Moskva-Tovarnaya according to a new schedule drawn up by Russian Railways OJSC, FERW press center reports.

The route is 9,361 km long. The container train is operated by TransContainer OJSC. The scheduled travel time is 7 days due to optimally combined standings needed to replace locomotives or engine crews, technical inspection checks as well as to increased journey speed of the train. The train consists of 55 40’ containers with electrical equipment from Korea.

The train is formed by pilot fitting platforms of TransContainer OJSC within the framework of experiment aimed at transfer of wagons to 250,000-km run.

To minimize the time of door-to-door delivery of containers (from consignor in Korea to consignee in Moscow) the containers unloaded from M/V Golden Merchant at VSC LLC at night March 12/13 left Nakhodka-Vostochnaya station as early as March 14. Total planned time of delivery from port Pusan (S.Korea) to consignee’s warehouse in Moscow is not to exceed 12 days.

«Delivery of containers in seven days will make it possible to considerably cut cargo delivery time and consequently contribute to attraction of container flow to Trans-Sib by redirection of it from the sea transport,» the report reads.
