Total oil-loading capacity of Baltic states’ ports is likely to reach 100 mln t in the nearest future - expert

Total oil-loading capacity of Baltic ports is likely to reach 100 mln t in the nearest future, Maria Belova, Senior Expert of the Energy Department, Institute for Energy and Finance, said at XII International Conference TransBaltica-2009 organized by Riga Managers School.

However the Baltic Course cites Belova as saying pipeline oil will hardly return to the Baltic ports: from 2001 does not come to Ventspils, from 2007 – to Mazeikiu.

When speaking about infrastructure for oil products export the ports of the Baltic states are not competitive, the expert thinks. Meanwhile, oil products transportation will hardly grow but is likely to decrease amid the crisis and with the official position of the Russian Federation to transfer from transit to the development of its own facilities.
