Japanese vessels arrive in Sakhalin to participate in Russian-Japanese war games

On June 6 the Russian-Japanese war games aiming at preventing the criminal activities on sea will be held in Sakhalin shore. Two Japanese patrol vessels, Tzugaru and Siretoko, arrived at Korsakov to participate in the maneuvers; RIA Primamedia was informed at the press service of the Sakhalin Frontier Department of the FSS Coast Guard.The maneuvers are to demonstrate the coordinated actions on sea of the military units and warships of the RF FSS Frontier Service and the Japanese Defense Department. Before the war games the Frontier Troops commanders from the Commonwealth of Independent States will hold the meeting chaired by the General of the Army Vladimir PRONICHEV, the first Deputy Head of the RF FSS Frontier Service. The meeting is to be held on June 4 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the representatives of Germany, Finland and countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Association attend it. The agenda of the meeting includes 25 issues on multilateral cooperation between the frontier bodies of the Commonwealth countries. There is a helipad and a helicopter on the board of Tzugaru, a 105 meters long and 3,221-ton ship with 50 crew members aboard. Siretoko is a 77 meters long, 961-ton ship; her crew consists of 32 members. Both vessels belong to the Japanese Defense Department and aim at the coast guard and rescue operations.On the Russian part four guard ships and two patrol boats from Sakhalin, Primorye and Kamchatka with the assistance of the RF FSS airforce take part in the war games. All units have already arrived at Korsakov.
