BZD reduces cargo transit tariffs to Kaliningrad

Belarus Railway (BZD) has made a decision to additionally reduce some cargo transit tariffs to Kaliningrad, the Kaliningrad Railway PR Deparment has informed RZD-Partner.

An official document, which was addressed by BZD to the Head of the Kaliningrad Railway, says that from June 1 transit rates through the territory of Belarus of black oil, gasoline and diesel fuel have been reduced by 12 %; for pig-iron, steel and ferroalloys - by 13 %; and fertilizers - by 11 %.

The tariffs were reduced as a result of bilateral and tripartite meetings on optimization of the tariff policy in the Kaliningrad direction, which were initiated by the Head of Kaliningrad Railways, Ivan Besedin, with the management of Belarus and Lithuanian Railways, including the discussion in Palanga on May 14-15 during the meeting of Transport Ministers of Russia and Lithuania.

From May 1 Belarus had already reduced tariffs for the transit of coal and coke (by 10 %), the condensed gas, gasoline and fish flour (by 15 %) and cars (by 25 %) in the direction of ports and border checkpoints of Kaliningrad Region.

Also, tariff rates have been reconsidered for grain (by 12 % on the route between Osinovka and Gudogai and by 34 % between Zakorytie and Gudogai), and for aluminium (by 55 % on the route between Osinovka and Gudogai).

Lithuanian Railways have also expressed their readiness to reduce transit tariffs for the same range of cargoes and to the same extent. But the decision has not yet been finally taken.
