In January-May 2009, the port of Klaipeda handled 10.82 million tonnes of cargo (16.5%, year-on-year) including 2.32 million tonnes of cargo handled in May (-7.3%), the Baltic Course writes.
Loading of agricultural goods increased by 27.5%, bulk peat – 2.3 times, packaged fertilizers – by 16.1%.
In May loading of liquid bulk cargo fell by 0.3 %, dry loose and bulk cargo – by 3.6%, general cargo – by 19.8%, year-on-year. Transshipment of containerized cargo fell by 15.9%, timber – by 49.3%, goods made from ferrous metal and steal – by 55.2%, ro-ro cargo - by 5.6%.
In May, Butinge terminal handled 802,400 tonnes.
