During the first five months of the year, the cargo volumes transported on Estonian Railways' infrastructure were by 9.9% smaller than a year before, writes the National Broadcasting.
The enterprise noted that this result was one of the smallest setbacks in the local region as well as in Europe as the average decline in cargo volumes for European railroad carriages reaches 30%, informs LETA.
A total of 1.89 million tonnes of goods were carried on the Estonian Railways' infrastructure and for the first five months, the amount reached 10.29 million tonnes. The cargo volumes in May were by 5.8 per cent less than during the same month last year and by 1.5 per cent lower than during the previous month.
